SEANCES IN THE STOCK CUPBOARD

The Traffic at No. 3 - " that Dave chap looks so like Polnareff."

Chump didn’t go to school because of her cold. Which I thought rather ridiculous since she’s hardly got one!

I got a C for French, even though Joy, who lives there, had helped me. Felt fed up, Miss Leopold’s such a pig. I simply cannot get on with her.

We used stone clay in Pottery for the first time. Its real name is St Thomas’s Body! We ‘grogged’ it (you add dried up clay to make it stronger), then rolled it and cut out our pieces. I’m going to make a low square ashtray.

Dinner break was fascinating. We talked about séances and I never realised before that they work. Felicity does it often and can always get through to her guardian spirit. She says it’s absolutely fascinating but she doesn’t know whether it’s a real spirit or her subconscious. Jill’s done it too and got through to someone who lived 2,000 years before Christ and who said she was very unhappy. Another time she was with a girl whose mother had died and they got through to her!! She thinks it’s absolutely uncanny but I think it’s the most incredible thing I’ve every heard of. Then Felicity and four others including Tig went into the Stock Cupboard and did it. They got through, but the spirit was only a weak one.

Martha wants to get through to William Pitt!!!

Told Ma and Pa about séances at dinner and they suggest I get through to our Dutch ancestors so Grandma doesn’t have to go searching for information anymore - hilarious.

Saw T.O.T.P.  Englebert is still No. 1. But The Traffic are No. 3 and that Dave chap looks so like Polnareff.

Listened constantly to Europe no. 1 because of OLYMPIA and POLNAREFF. Then, at last, just after one in the morning, he came on! Oh it was gorgeous, he did eight songs including ‘Mes Regrets’ and a queer new one, terribly jazzy where his voice sounds just like a trumpet. But the best thing of all was Hubert had a little chat with him and he sounded exactly like he did with me over the phone, his voice sort of more youthful than usual, laughing all the time.

I find it so difficult to think I’ve met him.
