A WHITER SHADE OF PALE

In Prayers Miss Lack made a bit of a fuss about mini skirts, even for the 6th years. Well, we can't just let our skirts down every time we come to school and then sew them up again when we're out.

Ma fetched me after school because of ghastly dentist - again. Terrible traffic, and Ma couldn't find anywhere to park in Wimpole Street. This time Mr Shepherd was very sociable indeed. He said the relationship between dentist, nurse and patient must be good, so that going to the dentist becomes more of a "social occasion" than anything else. I can't stand him when he's so chatty. He makes me sick.

Listened to the radio the whole way back and heard that FAB "I was feelin' kinda seasick" song.

It’s called ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’, I think, & it sounds like Percy Sledge
"We skipped the light fandango, Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick, But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder, As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink, The waiter brought a tray..."

For once T.O.T.P. was terribly good (although Silence is Golden is No. 1).  Jeff Beck came on, he’s so lovely, Chump's mad on him. He wore super trampy clothes. I've come to the conclusion I've gone off these smart mod types like the Who. And then it was so FAB because The Kinks came on, and Ray Davies looked more like Finkelstein than ever, and twice did two staggering grins from the side... Oh heavens, it was too much.
