Heard him speak to the waitresses at breakfast. It really is a nice voice, and he sounds quite old. Surely he's 18? We left as he left. I whizzed upstairs to parents' room to look out of the windows, and saw him in his red anorak below. His skis are black with a red band - he looked fab, he really did.

All of us went to the Rufikopf - no queue because everyone at church. The snow was too thick for good skiing and we went desperately slowly because of Bill. It was the first time he'd been off the nursery slopes and he did marvellously well. They stopped off at the restaurant while the rest of us whizzed down. Then who should we see but that French family with the five snazz boys - they're marvellous skiers but the one in tight corduroy pants nearly knocked Ma over.

I sang ‘Et Moi Et Moi Et Moi’. They didn’t hear.

Back in the sitting room who was there but Dutronc in his dark little corner. His parents came in, and Ma told me the most FAB thing: she heard his mother say to him, "du sitzt immer im Dunkel". Adorable, and true.

Some fab looks at lunch, then we all went out onto the terrace to bask in the sun. Dutronc suddenly picked up some snow, made it into a snowball and threw it to the left: it went miles. I think he's 6'1". Then taxi to Zurs, and queued for the Hexenboden. A wonderful ski but I fell over more than usual. The trouble is, I like going terribly fast even in thick snow.

Because it's Sunday we had a cold dinner. A table was set out in the middle of the room with a gorgeous array of cold meats, fish, sauces, eggs, fruits etc; also a huge block of ice and a big fish made out of butter. It's lovely having Dutronc no more than 7’ away from me, it makes all the difference to a meal. June, Mummy, Chump and me later played two games of whist. Dutronc's parents went to sit in the cubby hole and left him all by himself in a corner, playing Labyrinth. He looked sweet.
